New Comic Wednesday: To know me is to love me

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I know it is hard to go get your comics on Christmas Eve, so hopefully the comic shop you get your comics at let you do a hold. If not, I'm sure you can get away for a few minutes... not that I am telling you to.
Also, I am thinking of trying to make this blog into a site that I can start showing off my work. I just need to try to see if I can get a digital software going so I can color on the computer (I suck at coloring) and  probably a scanner. Any suggestions, please let me know.
First, I need to look at the Secret Origins more closely because I almost did not pick this up. Besides knowing who Helena is, we kinda needed to know how Grayson got into the Spyral spy gig! And this is what we needed to know! I mean, you just don't go and ask, "Hey, can I be a spyral spy?"
It was quite interesting, of course I only read the Dick Grayson part. The other two Secret Origin files are Animal Man and Katana.
To know Grayson is to love him!
So, for all of you people who like to read Grayson to see his beautiful self! Well, we already know Grayson and love him, now we need to know Helena. But now that I have read it, I wonder if the whole thing was real. It's just like reading the Killing Joke. Stop mind blocking me! I just want to know the truth! Though, at least I know that they didn't shoot Grayson!
Unless, between the times Rock went off from the group in the bar and came back... there was a switch from the real Rock to Grayson disguised as Rock (not to be confused with Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson).  So, the information we learned from this bald-headed, scar-wielding man could be true. I don't want to spoil it... but it isn't really different from original Helena Bertinelli. Though, I don't really care if they make a different Helena Bertinelli... I like the Helena Wayne Huntress. They just weren't that creative. I'm sure it is better to keep it simple so they don't lose track of the stories. I thought they had someone to make sure everything is straight with the facts.

Now that the boy wonder is back, Robin Alpha comes out with it's smooth feeling pages. I love it. Why don't they print all their comics in this material. And I am sorry, but the best picture is the fourth page (or fifth if you don't count the title page) with Alfred getting armed. Slick back your hair and get your guns out. No one can be classy as Alfred. Admit it...
Even though the first few pages of the comic is just an expansion of the couple last pages of Batman and Robin 37. But I love the double page spread of Batman right when he puts the shard in Damien so he can live again. Just the grief with possibly getting back his parents instead of Damien. You chose well, Batman.
Though, I thought they were gonna elaborate on Batman fainting, but no. He just faints out of exhaustion, but there are no lasting effects. What is that? Whatever, I thought there was gonna be some dramatic thing where Damien realizes how much Bruce went through to bring him back. Though, will Batman be over shadowed by Robin now? He don't need no man to help him fight crime.
Though, I do love the art better than the last few issues of Batman and Robin. I am a fan of comic art. On the other hand, sometimes annuals aren't done as well as the actual issues... it is annoying. I swear.
Until next time, we will see what happens to the dynamic duo!
Now next week, I saw what is on the list to pick up... I am debating on just taking a break until NEXT YEAR! That is crazyyyyy.
Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year!

New Comic Wednesday: Batman and Shazam... everywhere

I am sure, if you follow any comic book or Star Wars page you probably have seen the many variant covers Marvel has been putting out since they are releasing Star Wars again. You know that they are going to take full advantage of Star Wars, one of the biggest merchandisers. Disney is making me poor... My favorite is this Spiderman cover spin-off. Leia can save herself... to a point.
Probably my favorite variant announcements are the DC Movie Poster variants. Anyone attracted to men knows they love the Magic Mike Justice League variant. It's the greatest, you have to admit it! My second favorite is the Wonder Woman 300 poster. I wish they chose a different character to have the Jailhouse Rock cover. Elvis is my favorite, but as some of you know Harley isn't my favorite.

While the previous week results in not having any comics to read, the week after just comes with too many comics. It's a curse, isn't? Anyway, are we coming closer to what is the cause of the end of the multiversity. It always seems like we go to another issue, and just come out with more questions. At least the guide comes out soon!
What have we learned in this issue, besides Sivana has contacted his multiverse selves and came out with one good self? Never trust a man... no that's not it. Don't give out your last name on the first date...? Let's stick with important things. We have learned that Shazam is pretty cool, I like Tiger Shazam, but that is only because I love tigers. Still, I hope the guide helps. I'm still lost. I don't know much about the multiverse. I'm reading Infinite Crisis: Fight for the multiverse, and they are more straightforward with their evil.

The moment we have been waiting for! Or at least I have been waiting for it... the Batfamily is out of danger... for now... and into the batcave. Might want Alfred to prepare some revitalizing food because I'm sure Darkseid and his son wants to go wreak havoc. I kind of wish this comic was a little more popular because DC releasing both Batman and Batman and Robin 37 out on the same week kills me. And I don't know if I can be revived with a chaos shard... but it would be cool wouldn't? I probably would get super powers!
I can also say that my prediction for how Robin comes back was WRONG. Not that it is a big deal being wrong. Find out how he really comes back in Batman and Robin 37... that's not a spoiler because we knew it was coming. Don't you love happy endings... sort of...? I wonder how Damien would react to Dick Grayson beint dead... sort of. This is assuming this story-line is different from the regular Batman story line. Batman has 99 problems but Talia ain't one.

Lastly, the masterpiece of comics. Batman. Truly, with every major event Batman get's crazy good. With the whole city going after Batman like the Justice League, Batman is still trying to save the city and the friends that are trying to hurt him. And laugh while doing so. It's crazy how laughs can carry viruses. Hopefully no one picks up this comic and gets any crazy ideas. Don't be a Sivana. That is the real lesson today on this comic Wednesday. I don't want to say too much because I do not even know how to explain it in words how crazy Batman is. The joker really whipped up his own masterpiece while Snyder whips up a comic masterpiece. I swear, people need to realize the grandness of comic books. Not just the collecting side of it, the actual stories that come out with these infinite possibilities.
Like in every event-related issue the art is always fantastic, and creepy (as it should be in this comic). Can Batman find a cure to save his city? Is Joker just some crazy mad scientist?
As always I root for the good guy! Team Batman!

There wasn't a lot of books that I follow enough to cover this week. And, I stopped following Batgirl. I was too far behind in her story anyway.  So, I think it is time to catch up on my favorite weekly title,  Futures End. I kind of regret stopping Batman Eternal since I have heard from so many people that the title is getting better. Kind of sad that I don't follow it.

I just kind of want to know about this new masked vigilante I saw in the preview book a while ago. Her sketches went across the internet saying she might be a new Nightwing... but thankfully she has her own name. I believe her name is Blue bird or something. Correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, lets get this show on the road.
Futures end starts off really strong, first coming out as a Free comic book day issue with number 0. I've loved it since.  There are five or so different stories running along together. We have Firestorm's issue with not wanting to be a hero anymore because one wants something different from the other, and Batman has to come into town just to play daddy for all the superheroes. Thats right... Batman ia the dad of the DC universe. Though, Kyle or Tim's girlfriend or ex-girlfriend gets kidnapped, crossing the paths of Firestorm, the former Red Robin, and Terry McGinnes Batman who believes that only Red Robin can help him. Though, Firestorm is now a woman using Red Robin's girlfriend as the main host, and Ronnie the original host is dead. Even though she is the new Firestorm she can't seem to get out of being Firestorm and splitting from Jason. Since Madison, Red Robin's girlfriend, can't split from Firestorm, she is assumed dead since the lab accident.
Deathstroke is dead now. He was just going to try to kill Oliver again after he already faked his death by Deathstroke originally. But he is not dead. Lois Lane meets Earth 2 Lois Lane long enough to see her die.

With Deathstroke dead Fifty Sue has gone... CRAZY. Mini-Deathstroke? In this issue, it is as if she is talking to Brother Eye. Since it was revealed that Deathstroke was doing work on his own to try to get off the island and get rid of his companions, she wanted revenge. Now she has gone off the deep end. Creepy. The next issue has Fifty Sue in a new costume, wearing Deathstroke's mask. How does she even fit that mask?
Superman goes from the middle of nowhere to the middle of nowhere... in the cold, Siberia. He finds Brother Eye trapped in a bear... at least we want to think it's a bear. With this encounter, this might bring Superman home. All thanks to Constantine.
Now, Futures End leaves you with a new villain that also hates the Justice League and is equally crazy... probably very radioactive too. Then, S.H.A.D.E. releasing Godzilla-like creatures.
With Fifty Sue going off the deep end, and Lang and Grifter finally getting off the island. Fifty Sue and companies' story can FINALLY MOVE ON. Her story was so boring... I'm sure people agree with me. It seemed like it was going somewhere important at first, then it stayed in the same place forever... It was Fifty Sue communicating with brother Eye and Gilligan's Island staring Deathstroke, Grifter, and Lana Lang. Though, what now? Is she going to try to kill people?
Terry McGinnis needs to get a move on with trying to save the Future. Stop eating pizza and get some work done! Yeah, it's cute that you have a thing for a girl in the past, but she is gonna end up trying to kill you as some Brother Eye cyborg thing if you don't do anything.
Also, I don't like the whole Hawkman with Engineer kind of thing. I love the original origin of Hawkman and Hawkgirl being reincarnated lovers. Just let Engineer help save the world.

Also, Geoff Johns announced on Twitter that the new Teen Titans TV show will have it's pilot filmed NEXT YEAR. Yay. It is also announced that the show will be centered around Dick Grayson... YES. Anyone who knows me knows how EXCITED THAT IT IS NOT TIM DRAKE. Love it!

New Comic Wednesday: Holo-Awkward

Happy be-lated Thanksgiving, comic collectors! Did everyone catch the new Star Wars Trailer? Did anyone else think you were getting pranked in the first few seconds. I did. It's not racist... I just saw a meme before I watched the trailer. So I thought it was fake. Thankfully it wasn't. Anyone who hates the lightsaber needs to watch the Colbert Report. Also, the Millennium Falcon is as beautiful as ever.

Time for another installment of CJ's fave comic hotties! That's a long title... anyway, if you don't know what that means it is the week with both Grayson and Legendary Star-Lord! Grayson has been doing his job as a spyral spy and we know that Grayson's face is basically altered, so no one can tell the former boy wonder and dark heir is alive. Convenient isn't it? I wonder if the bat family could even see him. Maybe I see that in Grayson's future?
In this issue Grayson goes through the desert holding a baby. For days with limited food and water, Grayson carries a baby with an important body part the organization is after. But Grayson won't let them hurt the baby, will he? He will save the baby from the desert and spyral. The lady was wrong... Grayson is not just a man!
I want an explanation for the organs. Are organs transferable through birth? There are so many things I do not understand. Also, I can't wait till the annual comes out because I am dying to know who Helena is.

Now, time for Star-Lord's date. Kinda... I think it's kind of awkward how Kitty is on a holo-date... she even wore skates even when she wasn't really skating... and how do you go to second base with a hologram? Weird. Anyway, I love the suit. I mean who doesn't... it's very Dumb and Dumber. But even with the efforts of Star-Lord trying to keep the Holo-date work free, but not awkward free, he still gets captured by the Slaughter Squad. Le sigh. Now, its Kitty to the rescue... my least favorite X-men.
Now, who didn't see the identity of Mister Knife coming? I saw it. It's depressing really... when things seem obvious.
Also out this week, Angela: Asgard's Assassin. Now, I will admit that I didn't read the last part of Original Sin: Thor and Loki, so I might be a little lost at first, but I'm sure I will catch up. Stay tuned for more stuff.

New Comic Wednesday: Horror series are always sellers... I guess

The 75th anniversary of Batman has brought a lot of cool stuff for fans like collectibles and what not. Though, they are bringing a lot of random titles out related to batman in some way. I have the first issue of Gotham Academy and whatnot, but I don't know if I want to collect any of them or read them. Reading Gotham at midnight just reminded me of the beginning scene of Constantine. It probably is a constantine comic dressed up to be a Batman comic.
Also, I dont like the art. And I am a big fan of art. I kind of like the first few pages, but as it goes on the art reminds me of the art in books that have a half-assed drawing every once and a while. Like in some publication's of the Secret Garden. At least I know what's going on in the comic and I am not lost like in Bucky Barnes: the Winter Soldier. It also has a basic outline, so it is easy to follow. But I think I will stick to ths comics I am currently following. I'm just notna big fan of "horror art". If you really like comics like Arkham asylum, then I would recommend this series.
It's a really short post today. I have no marvel comics I wanted to talk about, and I am super sick. So be careful out there guys. Some people will not cover their mouth, so cover yours and wash your hands!

New Comic Wednesday: Team Robin is robin' my heart!

I don't know if I talked about this yet, but there was news running around my Facebook feed that Gotham might show the FLYING GRAYSONS! Though I wonder how old they would be... They would technically have to be a little older than Bruce? But after reading another article that explained there will be no Harley Quinn this season (because she will probably be the same age as Poison Ivy and actothing like the harley fans love) they explained that there will be a pre-natal Dick Grayson! Yay!

It seems every batman title is going up against a major villain! Everyone already knows that Darksied had to show eventually. Its his hellish world afterall. No one cares about Kalibak. Anyway, if anyone reads the previews book they pretty much revealed that Robin will live again, but with powers! This will be significant because he will be the first Robin with superpowers in Earth Prime! Crazy, I know.
Anyway,  I like how they make Barbara look super useless in this comic. Like she isn't really there for a reason. That is just how it looks in this comic so far. No love for barbara I guess. They found Damien, but now they have to fight a big threat. Four people with no superpowers and one with a special suit. Oh, and a dog. Not counting cyborg because he currently became useless.
My guess is in the next issue Robin somehow comes back to life and kicks some Darksied butt by himself. Just a thought.
Also, out is Loki Agent of... Axis not Asgard #8! I don't have time to talk about it right now, but I will later~!
Also, the next part of Multiversity is out! Pax Americana! Should be crazy like the rest I am sure.

New Comic Wednesday: Who would win in a fight? Superman or Batman...

The real question is Superman or Goku... but if you knew both sides well you would know the answer,  sorry...
Anyway!
The Eternal Jester Prince is back. Officially.
Behind the face of someone we thought was harmless lied the face of someone incredibly dangerous. We can barely understand or predict! That's what is so great about the joker. A criminal mastermind that is totally random. At least I don't think like the joker, so I wouldn't know.
But what was this second story in the back of batman? Robot Joker Apocalypse! It will be continued, so hopefully we understand more.
But... joker might be the eternal jester prince, but batman is the eternal darkness king! The dark knight! People are gonna ask me, do you think batman is dead? Obviously not, batman has future issues planned out. But even if the previews book didnt exist... batman won't die until Dick Grayson is back to take over.
Evem if he is dead. Guess what is out now? Remastered Batman ... Adam... West version! And my first love BURT WARD!

Now to try to balance my life out with a Marvel comic. I should have bought Superior Iron Man... I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO THE NEW THOR IS! From what I can understand... she has to be a normal human. Cause she talks like an asgardian, but she thinks like a regular human... almost like a teenager. Ugh. This makes me mad. I'm almost ready to just skim through. We know who captain america is, but who is she?!

New Comic Wednesday: Back to the favorites

Last month I wanted to talk about all the new books that came out that week, so I didn't get a chance to talk about my favorite blue-eyed hunks: Grayson and Star-Lord. Last time, Grayson had a little fling with Agent 8... Such a naughty boy, Dick. Haha if you read it, don't you just love the credit/title page? Also, he starts to realize how hard of a job this will be for him. Our Former Nightwing is starting to see that he is no longer a hero hiding under a mask, he is spy, and spies kill people. He tried doing his job in his way, and it worked. Though, the other spies thought their way could work better even though Dick got the job done. From futures end we see that eventually dick does kill someone and he has been a spy for at least five years. How will he cope with all the killing he has to witness?
On the other hand, Spyral has another league member's identity. They also found a encrypted signal coming from their organization. And who is in charge of finding the person broadcasting this unknown signal? Dick's future lover, Helena!
This month, Dick still seems a little upset about agent 8's death, but he couldn't get better with a lollipop from Malaysia because Helena won't let him. Don't worry Spyral apparently has good psychological benefits. Meaning, a psychiatrist that is also a cannibal! Just get over that fact, and you're golden! Though, I'm starting to like Helena a bit, she kinda cares for him and his well being as a former hero. I think it's hilarious that Dick is about to become a foreign GAY teacher. Its gonna be so weird, and playing to the fact that people think Richard Grayson is gay for Batman. IT WAS A DIFFERENT TIME BACK THEN, PEOPLE.

eople always ask me what's going on with Grayson and how does it tie in with the rest of the DC universe. Its hard to tell right now. All we know is Spyral is finding out the identities of League members... why they couldn't find out Aquaman's, Superman's, and Wonder Woman's identity first is crazy. Though, they might be trying to figure out what they are too... ugh who knows!
Also boarding school brings out the naughtiness in people. Even the girls and especially Grayson.

Also, last months previews book showed they are gonna have Grayson Annual 1, and it will show Helena's origin story! Cause she isn't Huntress Helena, she is Helena the spy.
Then, Starlord was out for revenge! Though, he is also in love with Kitty Pryde. A little weird for me, but whatever.
What I like about Starlord is that he is smarter and sneakier than everyone wants to believe. He shows that in most of the issues so far. Both Grayson and Starlord seem similar in character sometimes.
Anyway, in this issue he has to get away from wanting to kill Thanos, which he couldn't.. typical hero... and focus on other matters such as the Slaughter Squad. I know, seems like a Suicide Squad rip off. The only differences between the two is the Slaughter Squad is a group of aliens and they don 't work for a crazy lady earning government checks. Don't worry... it isn't that big of a deal.

New Comic Wednesday: Smell if you dare!

Whoever started that rumor that penguin is joker its stupid. What is this reason for creating Cobblepot if he is just going to be Joker. Yeah.....no. Sorry people, I am sure Joker will show up eventually. But he will probably only briefly show. The great thing about the Joker is he doesn't have a real origin story, so they can do whatever! Hang in there fans. I love reddit, but the redditor that suggested this idea has a wild imagination. I'm loving the riddler's character. He is so cool.
In other news, Gotham is getting crazy! Harvey seems so much more full as a character. Also, I want to see more of Mooney's behind the scenes plan to take over.
Also, Nightwing: the series is wonderful. Above is their Jason Todd. He is a cutie! Though, I dont imagine Deathstroke being like that. Deathstroke was heartless when his son Jericho was kidnapped. Though, i am also talking 80's right now.
The scratch n sniff pizza smells like ramen... just saiying. Now that that's out of the way... DC had a light week and none of which I really follow. So, I picked up Harley Quinn Annual. Scents other than the smell of ink should not be in comics. Now everytime I smell ramen I will think of Harley Quinn. I shouldn't have scratched. Smells are overwhelming.
Anyway, I always wondered what the reason for the bisexual tendencies Harley has when meeting poison Ivy. Not that you need a reason. I guess they don't have the Joker as her lover, so they won't have any man!
I'm probably one of the only DC fan girls that dont follow Harley Quinn. I like how they are trying to make Harley her own person, but I think she is failing at that. Only cause Harley was smart, but she acted dumb because of Joker. She still acts dumb, but occasionally uses her smarts like in Injustice (the only Harley I like) and in the recent New Suicide Squad.
Though, I will never know why Harley is so popular. I do like Poison Ivy though. Also, DC is trying to make Harley their Deadpool with breaking the fourth wall. Especially in this comic. The fourth wall is when the character directly talks or announces the precense of an audience.
I did like how hillarious the hallucinations were. It was cute. I especially loved the art for poison Ivy's hallucinations.
Beware the smells

New Comic Wednesday: If at first you dont succeed, try again, Deathstroke.

Both the Nightwing YouTube series and Gotham is getting good! I love how Alfred risked his life to save Bruce! Also in Nightwing the series I love how they showed Jason's death by the Joker and how much it haunts nightwing! So tragic and emotional. I also love how theybare hinting toward a Red Hood coming soon and the person that saved Dick was Jason back from the dead! Now, Nightwing is after Deathstroke again to save a mayor! I can't wait to see the behind the scenes of this episode. When Danny Shephard (Nightwing) jumps off his apartment balcony it looks really cool as he is falling through the sky. Might as well look cool as you're about to get Deathstroke.
Speaking of Deathstroke, his RE-RE (not making him sound like a retard) boot of his comic came out today! I guess they thought he wouks be better the second time around in the new 52. It was pretty interesting and gorry, as deathstroke shoukd be. He almost gets his head chopped off and he roams the streets mindlessly trying to find help. Its crazy. The only thing about it is it starts a little slow. Lots of dialog makes the movement of the book slow, always.  I like a little bit of words and a lot of pictures. Just like children books! Ha, yes I'm a child at heart.
Multiversity: The Just also came out. A world where it is a couple years in the future where Damien is the current Batman in a world where its too safe for multiple superheroes and a world where comics find its way from OTHER DIMENSIONS! Que the creepy music now. I love how this comic ia so dramatized... it's slightly hillarious. Everyone seems like teenagers.

Also out this week is Arkham Manor! I haven't got a chance to read it, but you can never have enough batman according to DC.

New Comic Wednesday: WE ARE FAMILY

I haven't had a chance to watch Arrow and Flash yet, but of course I am loving the drama within Gotham and the Penguin's conspiracy theory of a war. Besides Gotham,  I've been following a YouTube series of my favorite hero... drum roll please... Nightwing! It's purely fan-made and its wonderful so far. The episodes are really short,  but they come out weekly as well. The web-series has familiar comic book names like my other favorite, Jason Todd. They also have Barbara Gordon, Bruce Wayne, and Deathstroke! They borrow little things from comics, as well as having their own little creative twist.
The YouTube series is easily located if you type in "Nightwing the Series" or their YouTube name Ismahawk!

It seems the stories that you hope that will come out , monthly come out weekly instead, and the stories you want seem to take their sweet time to come to stores. I am really excited for Batman and Robin: Robin Rises. I like Damien as a Robin. A lot of people don't like him, but I think it is just a different challenge for Batman.
Now, I like how the story is bringing the Bat-Family together (except Dick Grayson :(). Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake know what's at stake here and how important Damien is. So I like how they will do almost anything to help Batman complete his family (minus dick...).
At some point, I want to know what the time line is like for all the Batman stories.  I assume the main Batman story line is after this Batman and Robin story line. I am just curious how it plays out. Batman has so much going on in his life.  Its crazy. Unless you want problems in your life,  don't be batman. The t-shirt lies!

Then there was Dr. Doom. Sorry,  i mean Loki. It was just hard to tell since I felt like it was a Dr. Doom comic most of the time.  Basically, Dr. Doom came to contain Loki, but now he kind of owes him for saving his life and Latveria. How cool is Valeria Richards by the way! She's so cute.

Also out is Trinity of Sin! Instead of getting all the misfortunate people in three different books, they are coming to one! Which is convenient.  They might as well be in the same comic.

New Comic Wesneaday: Nananana... BaaAAAH!

Cant be the Justice League without our favorite justice fighter, Batman. But apparently so, since the rest of them is trying b to kill Bruce Wayne in the name of Ju-Joker? Is it some faceless Joker running the operation? Or was the Death of the Family joker really hush instead? That idea is still in my mind after someone put it in my head.  Its a possibility.
Im really excited for this new arc in the Batman title. Expecially since Zero Year was so good. Now is it another major Batman villain going to appear, throwing the whole Justice League in his way? Just as long as it doesn't end up being Joker's Daughter. That would be a major tease.
I dont have a lot of time to read today,  projects and all, but what is also out is Earth 2 Worlds End. I guess this is the story of Earth 2 before the Futures End Story.  It has to be good. Right? That's a rule right?  Better tell Marvel that. Just kidding.  Not their fault I just end up picking up books I dont like.

New Comic Wednesday: Number Freaking Ones.

Once again the comic industry knows how to take my money. I have one more book that I might put on my subscription: Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier. But if course I am gonna wait to see if I like it enough for the next few issues to keep collecting it. It's the rule to comic book readers. There are a lot of Number Ones this week so I will read as much as I can... While I am in class... Haha I know... Such a Rebel...

But first, Gotham is getting pretty good. I'm waiting for the major WOW factor. Or a major story arc like they do in comic books. I guess next episode they will have Professor Pyg... Ugh. Out of all the villains I DO NOT like Professor Pyg. He is so creepy... Every time he appears in the comics, I cringe. I'd rather die a brutal death, then deal with Professor Pyg.
I also can't wait to see Flash and Arrow! Especially since they are having a cross over event for their first episode. I think that's cool. I've only ever seen it in cartoons. Speaking of Flash... They have Flash Season Zero #1, which I am excited to read

The first book I read in my subscription was Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier. Earlier, I said I might read it, but I am not 100% sure that I will be collecting it monthly. I love the scenic art, it's really nicely colored and looks like concept art for sci-fi movie scenes. Though, I don't like the character art. It's really dark, which is acceptable for Winter Soldier's character, but the faces just don't look that good to me. Good art is a big factor for me. I have stopped collecting books based on art alone. I'm not the only one that has done that, I'm sure.
Not just that, they do a more abstract way to do panels. Though it's easy to see what quote comes first, it's hard to see who is saying what. That's just a combination of not being able to see a lot of details of the characters. There's not a lot of color, not a lot of details. It's really abstract, it's an interesting way to approach comic book writing, but I personally would avoid doing something like this when I write my own book. Half way through, the book I had to put it down... I might finish reading it later. But I'll put it down for now for my other books.
I'm actually really disappointed that the book wasn't released earlier, nor made better. Captain America 2 was SO GOOD! Yet, they waited forever to actually release something somewhat related to him. They released Rocket Raccoon and Star Lord BEFORE guardians of the galaxy came out. And that movie itself was a gamble because no one knew who they were. In a way I understand because the Winter Soldier in the movie and the Winter Solider in the comic are significantly different and not a lot of people know that Bucky was Captain America for a bit as a good guy. Oops was that a spoiler for some people... Now you know. It's not that big of a spoiler is been around for a while.
Anyway, abstract isn't bad, I just don't personally like it. The most abstract in comics I will get is Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. It's not as abstract, but outside of the Comic book creating norms.

Moving on, I picked up Flash Season Zero #1 because I'm excited about all the successful DC TV shows. Only if they can put this much effort in their movies my life would be perfect right now. Just one more week till we see the cutie, Barry Allen or by his real-life/human name Grant Gustin. I just wish he was blonde. Oh well, Gustin is still a cutie. I was never really a huge fan of Flash, but I love that he can time travel because of his ability to move super fast. Flashpoint was a really good animated movie, so I do not doubt that Flash the TV series can do really good.
I like the fact that they have the comic based on his development of becoming a hero, which leaves me wondering how the first episode is going to go. It's an interesting standpoint to find out how he is feeling as he is developing his control on his powers, knowing his limits, and knowing what he must do to become a masked hero. I can't help but wonder, is this what high school was like for Barry Allen? Can't make a name for himself and can't get the girl cause she is with some douche?

Now, the anticipated, going to at least third print, comic... Not Thor girl, not Lady Thor, just... THOR #1. In Original Sin, Thor has lost his hammer because of a whisper! After reading this comic, I can only guess what it was: "you smell like poop." Just kidding. In all honesty, I think it has to do something with R-E-S-P-E-C-T... Find out what it means to me! I lied, I can't be fully serious. With all this pro-women stuff like people saying they are ready for Hillary Clinton and something stupid about Birth control, I wouldn't be surprised that Thor has become unworthy because he doesn't respect women enough. We're just in the stage of life where equality has to be shown everywhere, including comics. Everyone in Asgard(ia) is trained in the old ways... The man being the power of the house and what not. All the men on the moon tried to lift the hammer, but couldn't. As everyone left, there was Freyja left.
I wouldn't be surprised if she had something to do with this, or was the new Thor herself. Though, I don't know if she would hurt her son in that way. Though, I don't know how far she would go for women to be (meaning, mostly her) to be on the same level as men (her husband). Will we ever know who is the Female Thor?
Side note. Is (marvel) Thor's birth name Thor, or do people just call him that because he was the god of thunder. I know Norse Mythology, but this isn't a myth, it's a comic based on a myth. I'm just saying it would be awkward to say Thor and they both answer... Haha. Very serious.

Anyway, I still have comics to read, but I need to post something. If I feel like there is something important to share, I will try to post something later. I must get back to class... And read later. Also out this week are my favorite blue-eyed hunks, Grayson and Starlord, then Lobo #1 that I think my friend ComicNerdOptimist is excited about, and the start of Godhead! Until next week, or next post!

Thor Number 1, did you get yours reserved two months ago or two days ago?

As a comic book sales person, I come across this situation too often.
The big book this week is Thor #1 which premieres the first female Thor. People that see the preview book monthly know and have already preordered their copy of this brand new Thor. I haven't posted my two cents about what I think about the female Thor and the black Captain America, but I need to update it a little bit.
Wether you preordered your book two months ago or two days ago, they have a small preview of the different variants and the first few pages of Thor number one: http://comics.cosmicbooknews.com/content/female-thor-1-preview-colors

Come back next week for reviews on a few of my comic subscriptions!

New Comic Wednesday: Wait for it... Wait for it.... Nope, just kidding

Did anyone catch Gotham this week?! Awesome right? Simple detective work mixed with the origins of the people in the batman universe comes to TV. So different from any other Batman related TV show. Sadly no KAPOW and glittery cat woman suits. The show is like Detective Comics before Batman was created... That's because IT IS! Haha.

Anyway enough about the show, let's get to the comics! I have touched on any Marvel comics in a while. Though, so far in the Marvel universe they ended Original sin and they are jumping straight into AXIS! So far we have a non-super soldier Captain America, an axe wielding Thor (and lady Thor, her own series out next month) a SUPERIOR Iron man! and many other shenanigans changing in the Marvel universe. At least they used Original Sin to do something! Anyway, stepping away from the usual faces of Marvel, and going to one of my favorite characters... Loki!
What we know from Loki from Original Sin (comes with recap in the beginning for you as well) is that he assist Thor in finding the Tenth realm of the angels to find their long lost sister.  In between that, Loki becomes a woman (just in case you wanted to know) and double crosses the angels.  Now that OS is done, we come MARCHING to Axis. One of the most annoying things about Marvel is the many cross overs. Though, I guess it works for them cause it sells comics! People must know what happens in EACH marvel event one after the other!
Anyway, the story starts in Latveria with Doctor Doom and he is scared that Loki will destroy his future. Or is that just an illusion made by old Loki. Teen Loki is currently confused because Doctor Doom kidnapped him. Now it's like they're playing chess. Not much to say, except construction workers are gong crazy!

In futures end, we have learned that Superman is actually Shazam! Now will we find the answers we have been looking for in Superman Futures End? As we already know, Lois lane cracked the story of Shazam being superman, now she wants to know why. Though, I don't know how Lois Lane can write a whole article on unjust knowing who is behind the mask! I took journalism, writing a lot of stuff with little facts is hard!

We also know that due to the war, something crazy happened to superman and it was catastrophic that he has to be a farm boy in a foreign country and now flying around in capes and tights. So basically, we still know nothing. Maybe after a few more issues of Futures End we will know the answer. After all, they are finally revealing small parts of what happened in the war.
I haven't read Earth 2 Futures End yet, but from the recent Futures End you see Earth 2 heroes trying to help the world they came to for refuge instead of being the cause of it. Though, the public needed someone to blame for the war. Also, we know how Tim Drake survived, but will he get his girl back? Hopefully, in the next issue of Futures End they have more on the Superman case that Lois Lane doesn't have.... Yet.

If you aren't yet, I still recommend that people pick up The weekly title Futures End. It's such a good story, I don't know if they are gonna have a graphic novel. I haven't seen it yet, but it's just really good. Also, this issues Futures End is laid out differently than the rest. This comic focused on one part, the Green Arrow story, instead of having a few pages of each different story line. It's a ice break from the usual. I also liked Supermans Futures End. It's not too out there that you wonder why this is even a part of the Futures End story line, but it has the feel of a one shot still.
Well until next time, up up and awayyyyyyyy.

New Comic Wednesday: Spoiler Alert! Literally... Beware!

Stephanie Brown is back as Spoiler! That's super exciting. She is one of my favorite Batgirls, though i don't really dislike any of the Batgirls. However, I want some Cassandra Cain! She is my favorite batgirl! [edit from 9/20/14 finally got to read Batgirl: Futures End, loved it, but Barbara got so freakishly strong and big for her size... Weird. Anyway, I don't like Cassandra Cains costume in that comic, but glad to see she still exist in the comics. Also, love that I have to remember another Robins name... Cause I have to and want to in Batman and Robin: futures end]. Not much to say about the latest Batman Eternal. I was about to stop following it, but then they released Stephanie Brown as Spoiler again. Though, I love this new look to spoiler. The only real difference is that you can see Stephanie Brown's face instead of it being fully covered, but it's still so much better than the old costume in my opinion.
Not going to touch much on Futures end, but there's a life/relationship lesson in that issue for you guys! Don't lie to your girlfriend forever and expect them to still love you. Geez, Tim. I guess Supergirl and Raven didn't teach you anything.

This week, another Multiversity book comes out! This time it is Society of Superheroes with another universes Doctor Fate! Sorry, I just think Doctor Fate is kinda cool. Also featuring, devil-like green lantern and a teenage boy that wears a mask that looks like Dr. Manhattan. Though, he isn't exactly a devil, he is an alien.  Nothing much has changed from the first multiversity book, comics are still evil and cursed!
Every universe seems to be crumbling one after the other. So, in this comic, Doctor fate decides to create the S.O.S. (For you otakus, not to be confused with the SOS brigade.) otherwise known as the Society of Superheroes! Since he doesn't think he can stop his world from crumbling, he hopes he can at least warn other worlds. Hopefully, they can find Nix Uotan wherever he may be.
I found this comic easier to read than Multiveristy, it just seemed more interesting in my opinion, even though Multiversity #1 got a lot of ads from DC leading up to the release. Also, I love this version of Doctor Fate. He doesn't need magic to beat the bad guys!

If you get Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse, you get a code to unlock Atomic Wonder Woman! I might play the game now... Atomic Wonder Woman looks badass. But once again, a cover has fooled me into thinking their would be something in the issue, when there isn't... On the cover it has a cool looking Poison Ivy. But she wasn't in the comic. Unless i missed something.

Of all the comics I have been reading, I still find Injustice and Futures End to be both exciting and easy to read. Something exciting always happens, so i can't help but buy those books. I have been reading some Futures End titles, and I don't know what the point is with some of them. I like Jason Todd, but the Futures end books barely fit in to the actual Futures End title. We'll at least Next week they're going to have Superman Futures End. Maybe we will find out why Superman doesn't want to fight crime anymore! Until next week!
Now....
...I'll just put this here...

New Comic Wednesday: You May Have A Hulk, But We Have an ARMY of Batmen!

"I'm batman, so I have to wear a shirt that has a batman symbol on it when I'm not wearing a suit." And geez, five years later I thought Alfred would be dead by now. Sorry, I had to get that out of the way. But, with the Alfred thing, we know Bruce has A.L.F.R.E.D. Maybe in the next five years.

Also, from here on out I will just warn my audience that I will have spoilers in my reviews wether it be major or minor. Before I tried to do minor spoilers, but I couldn't really say much if I did.
That being said, WILL WE FINALLY GET TO SEE AN ARMY OF BAT...MEN?! No, not just the batfamily and their war against evil through pure JUSTICE. An army of Bruce Freaking Wayne. Though, I think he should have thought further ahead and cloned some Alfred's too. Silly Bruce. With all these different Future's End books, I wonder how and when each will tie into the actual weekly story.
We already saw Green Arrow alongside Roy Harper alive and creating his little Arrow Army and Superman in the middle of nowhere planting crops. Though, there is no good reason for him to be there. I don't know how important it is for the Riddler to be captured by Calendarman. I just want everything to tie together already. Though, I really wish I picked up the Aquaman Futures End book. I heard that's really juicy. Aquaman has been really good lately, so I don't know why I haven't been picking it up.
I really like Futures End so far, I love the story and how there is always something interesting to read in every issue. I don't really care for the 3D cover month so much, I just feel like it's DC's redemption from Villain's month. Also, I feel like the 3D covers give too much away. By just seeing the images online the readers already have a general idea of what happens in the issue. Some of the covers are also hard to see. Like I have no idea what's going on in the background of some, like the Grayson cover. Then, I saw it online and could see it clearly.
I still have my other books from Futures End to read though! This week we have World's Finest, Superboy, Batgirl, Constantine (Dr. Fate?!), Green Lantern Corps and many others. If you want all those 3D covers, you already know that it's gonna hurt your wallet. If not, there are the regular covers for a dollar less.
Stay tuned, (if I get the chance to read the rest of my comics) who are these girls dressed as Batgirl?

Also, still following the story where The Thing meets crazy Apocalypse! Oh, Hope, you're man kinds only hope. Sorry, Justin. I had to. Anyway, we find ourself in a society run by the only people that aren't taken over by the Spread and eating each other. Even if it seems safe, make sure you watch what you eat and what boobies you touch.
If I was a guy or a lesbian I'd cringe at the fact that BOOBIES CAN KILL! Justin Jordan has made every mans nightmare come true!
Who is this creepy guy following No and Hope?! Is he just a creepy preacher? Does his looks match his personality? Hide your kids, hide your wife... Just kidding. Just your kids.
Just kidding all around.
But really.
Anyway, our favorite person who doesn't talk much is in a pickle to be a meal to the "sane" people of the world. No one is completely normal in this book so far.

Injustice is still my favorite current comic. I'm sure the sales have slowed down on it since the game has been out for a long time, but the comic is still so good! You can keep up with it digitally before it hits stores physically. There's almost no excuse! Anyway, short though about the comic: in the beginning you feel sorry for Superman, but then you just begin to hate. His. Guts.
Seriously, the amount of people he's killed, it's crazy. Though, I love how tough the characters are in this. They don't see Superman as a friend anymore. Injustice Harley is my favorite Harley, and I am one of the few girls that do not like Harley Quinn. Black Canary is a bad ass like usual. But that is what makes me hate the last page of this issue... WHYYYYYYYYYY?!
If you love reading for the story instead of collecting, get injustice! Start with the graphic or get them all digitally! It's just too good! The comic makes me FEEL things!
